Portfolio Manager

Reports To: Chief Credit Officer

The portfolio manager is responsible for working the Bank’s commercial loan portfolio to manage loan renewals, loan extensions, collection of financial statements, credit underwriting, loan structuring and exception monitoring. The Portfolio Manager also works with the Bank’s CCO to manage the Bank’s high-risk loans.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Conduct appropriate financial analysis and research to underwrite new loan renewals, extensions, and modifications. Analyze and structure the renewal proposals and complete the underwriting and evaluation process.
  • Ensure all required documentation is collected and maintained as required by existing policy.
  • Conduct thorough annual reviews of current portfolio clients including review of financials, site visits, and assessment of general business information and other factors that would be indicators of risk.
  • In partnership with the Lending Team, establish and maintain relationships with current and prospective customers.
  • Ensure loan terms and conditions adhere to established credit policy.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations, agency guidelines and organization policies.
  • Proactively manages credit risk to detect issues within the portfolio- either loan based or industry wide.
  • Provide timely and accurate reporting to senior management.
  • Work with outside vendors and professionals to remedy situations as needed.
  • Perform/create and analyze corporate and financial spreads.
  • Assist in preparation of various reports and submissions to management.
  • Other duties as assigned.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

  • Education: Bachelor's Degree from an accredited 4-year college or university or equivalent work experience
  • Work Experience: 5+ years of experience in a commercial lending environment with proven experience in credit evaluation, portfolio risk assessment and/or special assets.
  • Candidates must reside in Metro Atlanta and must have experience working in a bank performing loan operations or loan closings.

SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES, COMPETENCIES

  • Thorough knowledge of commercial lending process including credit evaluation and underwriting.
  • Ability to accurately interpret lending policy and apply same to the management of the portfolio.
  • Detailed knowledge and understanding of credit and financial analysis tools and techniques.
  • Ability to identify and quantify business risks and the key drivers of risk and focus decisions accordingly.
  • Thorough knowledge of banking regulations and laws governing commercial lending.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills with ability to set priorities in a multi-task environment and meet deadlines.
  • Monitor, review and ensure compliance with loan covenants, borrowing base certificates, and other loan documentation requirements.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
  • Be able to work in a team environment.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Standing, working at computer, and sitting for long periods of time.
  • Minimal Travel, Less Than 10% (will require driving and proof of auto insurance)

Lending Assistant

Reports To: Chief Lending Officer
Department Name: Commercial Lending

The Lending Assistant supports the lending team by performing administrative assignments in the commercial lending department. The Lending Assistant is responsible for providing superior quality service both within the Department and externally.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

      • Responsible for supporting the Bank’s commercial lenders with all administrative aspects of the commercial loan process.
      • Assists with pre-closing, closing and post-closing tasks and insures loans are processed in accordance with the Bank’s policy and regulatory guidelines as applicable. 
      • Assists with the collection of documentation and processing of commercial loans.
      • Utilizes various checklists to prepare loan files according to established procedures. 
      • Communicates with lending team on all discrepancies and necessary legal documents not yet obtained. 
      • Organizes loans for customer signature and loan operations.
      • Contacts customers or third parties to request insurance documents, tax returns, and other loan-related documents. 
      • Inspects loan files to determine whether all required documents are current and makes relevant notes on work in progress.  
      • Assists with funding loans and pays any related filing fees according to established procedures.
      • Communicates with customers and vendors as directed by lenders.
      • Address client issues and assist in researching and resolving issues.
      • Processes loan renewals and paperwork for paid loans as instructed by lender and according to approved policies and procedures. 
      • Responsible for organization of loan files and general upkeep of filing room. 
      • Provides administrative support to lending department.
      • Conduct all activities in compliance with bank policies and all regulatory guidelines including BSA, OFAC, Fraud Prevention, and Anti-Money Laundering regulations.
      • Perform other duties as may be assigned.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

  • Education: High School Diploma or GED required; College degree or additional coursework in banking, finance or lending is a plus.
  • Work Experience: At least two years of prior bank, lending or administrative experience preferred.
  • Candidates must reside in Metro Atlanta and must have experience working in a bank performing loan operations or loan closings.

  • Excellent customer service and communications skills- written and verbal
  • Self-starter with the ability to work independently without constant and direct supervision
  • Experience using Microsoft Office products, Outlook, Word, Excel, Direct Imaging System, etc. and be efficient in the use of these systems on a daily basis.
  • Ability to make sound decisions and recommendations
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to multitask and prioritize
  • Ability to interact well with customers with high to low levels of computer knowledge
  • Ability to keep detailed and accurate records.
  • Must be able to work well in a team environment.

Commercial Loan Operations Administrator

Reports To: Manager, Loan Operations
Department Name: Loan Operations

Commercial Loan Operations Administrator will prepare loan documents and proofread for corrections; Handle confidential files and records of the bank; Prepare all entries to book loans; Reconcile loan GL accounts; Handle all appropriate imaging of documents; Help monitor and maintain loan exceptions.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

      • Prepares commercial loan documents, files and correspondence.
      • Prepares all the necessary entries to book loans including loan proceeds checks
      • Assists loan customers on an as needed basis with their inquiries and concerns
      • Responsible for keeping records and for preparing master note draws, construction lines of cr of credit and other business-related lines of credit
      • Determines loan documentation and compliance documents needed for loans
      • Creating, tracking, following up on and removing exceptions (missing or incorrect documents)
      • Posting payments, advances and file maintenance to the core system
      • Imaging all necessary loan documents and follow-up items
      • Reconcile loan GL accounts
      • Perform other duties and special projects as assigned

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

  • Education:   Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited 4 year college or university preferred – or 4 or more years of equivalent work experience
  • Work Experience:   2+ years of Commercial Loan Processing experience in a financial institution or other relevant experience
  • Candidates must reside in Metro Atlanta and must have experience working in a bank performing loan operations or loan closings. 

SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES, COMPETENCIES

  • Knowledge of Jack Henry (Silverlake, Xperience) preferred
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills a must
  • Ability to prioritize duties and work independently while remaining flexible to assignment and environment changes
  • SBA and/or Conventional loan experience acceptable
  • Familiar with reading and understanding monthly reports (past dues, non-accrual/SBA 1502)
  • Must be familiar with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Demonstrated ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Exceptional organizational skills required
  • Ability to meet critical deadlines during designated periods
  • Attention to detail a must
  • Demonstrate ability to learn new tasks
  • Must be able to function in a team-based environment and work collaboratively with other areas of the Bank to accomplish objectives.
  • Must be able to maintain the highest level of confidentiality and possess the ability to handle sensitive materials concerning the company and our borrowers
